This short film runs in a loop, so that the event endlessly repeats itself. A certain rhythm is established, and this has a hypnotizing effect on viewers. Initially, the event seems casual and commonplace. After watching for a while, however, the girl\u0026rsquo;s body appears to morph into a moving, abstract form. The endless repetition also makes the image elusive: it is at once familiar and strange, full of tension \u0026ndash; tension, for instance, between the visible and the non-visible, between the tender and the untouchable.\u003c/p\u003e\r\n\r\n\u003cp\u003eMarijke van Warmerdam tells no story here. She shows a process, an action. This action takes place in silence. Time elapses slowly, but also seems to arrest \u0026ndash; the film does not \u0026lsquo;progress\u0026rsquo;. Here the artist maintains a fixed camera-viewpoint, by which she herself remains in the background. In the presentation of the piece, however, this neutrality is partially lifted by virtue of the projectors (an integral part of the work) being left visible, not hidden away. Vervolgens slaat het meisje de benen naar beneden en verdwijnt uit beeld. Even later verschijnt ze opnieuw in het kader om dezelfde handstand te hernemen. In eerste instantie oogt het voorval achteloos en alledaags. Na lang kijken, lijkt het lichaam van het meisje echter over te gaan in een abstracte bewegende vorm. De eindeloze herhaling maakt het beeld dan ook ongrijpbaar: het is tegelijk vertrouwd en vreemd en zit vol spanningen \u0026ndash; spanning bijvoorbeeld tussen het zichtbare en onzichtbare, tussen het broze en onaantastbare.\u003c/p\u003e\r\n\r\n\u003cp\u003eMarijke van Warmerdam vertelt hier geen verhaal, maar toont een proces, een handeling. Die handeling vindt plaats in stilte. De tijd verstrijkt langzaam maar lijkt ook stil te staan, er zit immers geen voortgang in het filmpje. Hierbij hanteert de kunstenares een vast camerastandpunt waardoor ze zelf op de achtergrond blijft. In de opstelling van het werk heft ze deze neutraliteit echter deels op door de projectoren, die integraal deel uitmaken van haar werk, niet weg te stoppen maar zichtbaar te tonen.
