The surface is not entirely smooth: we can still see traces of the work process. The leg stands right out of the ground. Its leg\u0026rsquo;s calf is long and narrow, the knee fine and the upper-leg rather sturdy. Above, the leg is has been cut-off level. Whether it\u0026rsquo;s from a man or a woman can\u0026rsquo;t be determined. In the first place a leg makes us think of walking or running, of movement. But the leg here cannot really get into motion: for that, two legs are needed. Nonetheless, the illusion of movement is indeed there. We also see this effect recurring in other of Visch\u0026rsquo;s work. Often present as well, is this state of uncertain equilibrium. The viewer gets the impression that the freestanding leg would be easy to topple over, it\u0026rsquo;s foot not too solidly planted on the ground. Knowing what we do about this Dutch artist, the title won\u0026rsquo;t reveal much about the sculpture\u0026rsquo;s meaning. Het oppervlak is niet helemaal glad: je kan er de sporen van het werkproces op vinden. Het been staat rechtsreeks op de grond. De kuit van het been is lang en smal, de knie fijn en het bovenbeen vrij stevig. Bovenaan is het been vlak afgesneden. We kunnen niet achterhalen of het een mannen- of vrouwenbeen is. Een been doet ons in de eerste plaats denken aan wandelen of lopen, aan beweging. Toch kan dit been niet echt in beweging komen: daar zijn twee benen voor nodig. Wel ondervinden we de illusie van beweging. Dit effect zien we eveneens bij andere beelden van Visch terugkomen. Ook de toestand van labiel evenwicht vinden we terug in andere werken van Visch. Hier heeft de kijker de indruk dat hij het been vrij gemakkelijk kan omduwen, het staat niet echt stevig met zijn voet op de grond. Zoals we dat van deze Nederlandse kunstenaar kennen, helpt de titel de kijker niet verder om het beeld betekenis te geven.
