The installation consists of two video works depicting an artificial natural landscape with a gabber dancer moving to the beats of a drum soundtrack. Gabber, a style of electronic music originating in the 1990s in the Low Countries, is known for its relentless beats of up to 200 BPM and repetitive dance style that can induce trance-like states. A monolithic sculptural mask-like element stands at the centre of the installation, animated by digital projection mapping and undergoing cyclical transformations inspired by visual distortions and hallucinations that occur during trance-like experiences. The installation’s title refers to the combination of various elements: the ecstatic dream state between sleeping and waking on the one hand and the exhilarating hardcore drum loops and repetitive choreography of the dancing gabber on the other. \u003ci\u003eHYPNOPOMP\u0026nbsp;\u003c/i\u003ecombines ancient traditions, modern subculture and shamanism with a focus on rhythm, repetition, transformation of consciousness and ritual expression. Le gabber est un type de musique électronique créé dans les années 1990 aux Pays-Bas et qui est connu pour son rythme effréné de 200 battements par minute et son style de danse répétitif qui permet parfois d’atteindre un état de transe. Au milieu de l’installation se trouve un élément sculptural monolithique aux allures de masque qui est animé par une cartographie de projection numérique et qui subit des transformations cycliques inspirées par les hallucinations et les distorsions visuelles qui sont propres aux expériences de transe. Le titre fait référence à la combinaison de ces éléments\u0026nbsp;: d’un côté le rêve extatique entre le rêve et l’éveil, de l’autre côté les basses hardcore exaltantes et la chorégraphie répétitive de la danse gabber. \u003ci\u003eHYPNOPOMP\u003c/i\u003e associe les anciennes traditions, une sous-culture moderne et le chamanisme à un focus sur le rythme, la répétition, la transformation de la conscience et l’expression rituelle.
