Jeffrey Schnapp introduces the book, elaborating the cultural and historical context of Ball\u0026#39;s work, probing various aspects of Ball\u0026#39;s asceticism, spirituality and sexuality to arrive at a revisionist interpretation of Zurich Dada and the origins of modernism as well as postmodern art-making.\u003c/p\u003e\r\n\r\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eRelation of the novel to the artist\u0026rsquo;s practice\u003c/strong\u003e\u003c/p\u003e\r\n\r\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cem\u003eTenderenda the Fantast \u003c/em\u003ewas to have appeared in 1922 accompanied by a suit of woodcuts by Hans Arp.
