This one-man exhibition was adopted as the starting point for a new presentation in the M HKA: the original concept was unfolded and turned inside out and evolved into an exhibition with fifteen artists.\u003c/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThis project should not necessarily be considered to be a group exhibition, but rather as a 'cultural agglomeration'. For the artists were not gathered together for some or other external reason, but on the basis of a natural, historically developed relationship: connections, contacts and networks which already existed between them and their works of art. This will be one of the lines for special attention for the museum's artistic policy: how the autonomy of art and contextualisation can go together.\u0026nbsp;\u003cbr\u003eRichard Venlet's work is as such already very conscious of contexts and relationships. Venlet likes to intervene in the architectural context of an exhibition space, such as the impressive, ninety-metre long, mirrored wall which literally divides the ground floor of the M HKA into two. He himself also creates contexts, for example the mobile exhibition room he designed for São Paulo, in which a new presentation will be exhibited in the M HKA every week (see plan). He enters into a relationship with the viewer and invites him to participate, sometimes even literally, as in the chalk room where visitors can leave messages for each other and for the artist.\u0026nbsp;\u003cbr\u003eApart from work by Richard Venlet, this extension of Paramount Basics presents (the transcending essential) work by Dirk Braeckman, Manon De Boer, Dany Deprez, Christoph Fink, Geert Goiris, Ann Veronica Janssens, Aglaia Konrad, Willem Oorebeek, Christophe Terlinden, Koen Theys, Harald Thys, Joëlle Tuerlinckx, Michael Van den Abeele and Gert Verhoeven. Venlet grijpt graag in de architecturale context van een tentoonstellingsruimte in, zoals met de indrukwekkende, negentig meter lange spiegelende wand die de gelijkvloerse verdieping van het M HKA letterlijk in tweeën snijdt. Hij creëert zelf ook contexten, zoals de mobiele tentoonstellingsruimte die hij voor São Paulo ontwierp en waarin in het M HKA elke week een nieuwe presentatie zal plaatsvinden (zie schema). Hij gaat relaties aan met de toeschouwer en nodigt die uit om te participeren, soms zelfs letterlijk zoals in de krijtruimte waar bezoekers boodschappen voor elkaar en de kunstenaar kunnen achterlaten.\u0026nbsp;\u003c/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eNaast werk van Richard Venlet, presenteert deze verderzetting van Paramount Basics (het overstijgende essentiële) werk van Dirk Braeckman, Manon De Boer, Dany Deprez, Christoph Fink, Geert Goiris, Ann Veronica Janssens, Aglaia Konrad, Willem Oorebeek, Christophe Terlinden, Koen Theys, Harald Thys, Joëlle Tuerlinckx, Michael Van den Abeele en Gert Verhoeven. Cette exposition personnelle fut utilisée comme point de départ d'une nouvelle présentation au M HKA: la conception originelle fut déployée et inversée et s'est transformée en une exposition de quinze artistes.\u003c/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eIl ne faut pas voir ce projet comme une exposition de groupe, mais plutôt comme une 'agglomération culturelle'. Les artistes n'ont d'ailleurs pas été rassemblés pour l'une ou l'autre raison externe, mais sur base d'une cohésion naturelle et historique: rapports, contacts et réseaux qui éxistaient déjà entre eux et leurs œuvres.\u0026nbsp;\u003cbr\u003eCela devient une des directives prioritaires de la politique artistique du musée: la manière dont l'autonomie de l'art et la contextualisation vont de pair.\u003cbr\u003eL'œuvre de Richard Venlet est en soi déjà particulièrement empreinte de contextes et de relations. Venlet aime intervenir dans le contexte architectural d'un lieu d'exposition, tel l'impressionnant mur en miroir de nonante mètres de long qui scinde littéralement le rez-de-chaussée du M HKA en deux. Il crée lui aussi des contextes, tel le lieu d'exposition movible conçu pour São Paulo qui, au M HKA accueillera chaque semaine une nouvelle présentation (voir schéma). Il crée des relations avec le spectateur et les invite à participer, parfois littéralement comme dans l'espace à la craie où les visiteurs peuvent laisser des messages pour d'autres visiteurs ou pour l'artiste.\u003cbr\u003eConjointement à l'œuvre de Richard Venlet, ce prolongement de Paramount Basics (l'essentiel transcendant) présente des œuvres de Dirk Braeckman, Manon De Boer, Dany Deprez, Christoph Fink, Geert Goiris, Ann Veronica Janssens, Aglaia Konrad, Willem Oorebeek, Christophe Terlinden, Koen Theys, Harald Thys, Joëlle Tuerlinckx, Michael Van den Abeele et Gert Verhoeven.
