Polarised yet permeable, the two zones are intermittently connected since the central mechanism is designed to be pushed. Thus, what initially appears to be a severe division of the space is rather a rousing call to challenge it.\u003ci\u003e\u0026nbsp;\u003c/i\u003e\u003c/p\u003e\u003cp\u003e\u003ci\u003eOut\u003c/i\u003e marks a major development in the artist’s study of politics of display. Having previously proposed licenseable spaces in response to a commissioning program and styled an institution as a jewellery box, Zhu’s In Situ commission consolidates architecture as a medium in a practice that spans fashion design, publishing and scenography. \u003ci\u003eOut\u003c/i\u003e’s explicit confrontational quality is deceiving in its stubborn simplicity.
