Art can be a refuge that helps to keep one\u0026#39;s escape from reality in perspective. Coming face to face with beauty \u0026ndash; a beauty that is based on an intense relationship with both life and coexistence, as experienced within the context of what art is \u0026ndash; produces a positive mental factor of immeasurable value.\u003c/p\u003e\r\n\r\n\u003cp\u003eToday, art breaks down into many particles that float side by side, forming a \u0026#39;cloud\u0026#39; of boundless diversity. It is quite apparent that art digests itself quickly: celebrated oeuvres are soon exchanged for others, and those of older artists are often covered by the patina of time, as they are no longer considered \u0026#39;useful and serviceable\u0026#39; to the art market.\u003c/p\u003e\r\n\r\n\u003cp\u003eWith the modest exhibition \u0026quot;As Close As That\u0026quot;, held in three rooms of the upper-floor M HKA, INBOX and Nick Lodgers-spaces, we want to make a presentation that is close, intimate and world-oriented.\u003c/p\u003e\r\n\r\n\u003cp\u003eRestrictions on the use of public space as a form of physical distancing have rapidly become key factors in the protection of public health. The impact of the present pandemic on the perception and use of the public space is incalculable. Will it accelerate tendencies towards privatisation and, as a result, cause the public space to become increasingly less \u003ci\u003eres publica\u003c/i\u003e? Oog in oog te komen met schoonheid, die gestoeld is op een intense omgang met\u0026nbsp;het leven en het samenleven binnen de context van wat de kunst is, genereert een mentaal plus-co\u0026euml;ffici\u0026euml;nt dat niet te meten valt.\u003c/p\u003e\r\n\r\n\u003cp\u003eDe kunst valt vandaag uiteen in vele partikels die naast elkaar zweven\u0026nbsp;en een \u0026#39;cloud\u0026#39; vormen van een onmetelijke diversiteit. Het valt op dat\u0026nbsp;de kunst zichzelf snel verteert: gevierde oeuvres worden snel\u0026nbsp;ingewisseld voor andere en dat van oudere kunstenaars geraakt niet zelden onder de\u0026nbsp;patine van de tijd, omdat oudere kunstenaars niet altijd meer\u0026nbsp;\u0026#39;bruik- en inzetbaar\u0026#39; worden geacht voor de kunstmarkt.\u003c/p\u003e\r\n\r\n\u003cp\u003eMet de bescheiden tentoonstelling \u0026ldquo;As\u0026nbsp;Close\u0026nbsp;As\u0026nbsp;That\u0026rdquo; wensen wij in drie kamers\u0026nbsp;van het \u003ci\u003eupper \u003c/i\u003eM HKA, INBOX en Nick Lodgers, een presentatie te brengen die zowel close, intiem als wereldgericht is.\u003cbr /\u003e\r\n\u003cbr /\u003e\r\nDe restricties op het gebruik van de publieke ruimte als vorm van fysieke \u003ci\u003edistancing\u003c/i\u003e zijn op korte tijd \u003ci\u003ekey\u003c/i\u003e geworden in de bescherming van de volksgezondheid. Wat de impact van deze pandemie zal zijn op de perceptie en het gebruik van de publieke ruimte is niet te overzien. Zal het tendensen van privatisering versnellen en wordt de publieke ruimte als gevolg daarvan alsmaar minder \u003ci\u003eres publica\u003c/i\u003e?\u0026nbsp;Betekent de globale gezondheidscrisis een nog massalere toevlucht tot de digitale ruimte en wat zijn de maatschappelijke gevolgen hiervan \u0026ndash; van een groeiend individualisme tot het verbrokkelen van vrijheid en democratie?
