Because we approach the academy as a laboratory that offers space for new possibilities, at the same time we look at art as a space in which other worlds (and world views) become possible. A number of participating artists have transformed the exhibition rooms into such new learning environments, with room for research, insight and the exchange of ideas. The works and/or spaces created specially for this exhibition represent ideal environments, in which one can learn from works of art and artists. Or in which we can literally unlearn our deep-rooted presuppositions as to exactly what ‘education’ is. Some other artists have reacted to the educational theme in various ways – by means of a single work of art, by proposing a new learning method or even by means of a letter addressed to the curators.\u003c/p\u003e"},{"locale":"nl","name":"Academy — Learning from Art","short_description":"","description":"\u003cp\u003eDoor ‘leren’ te zien als iets wat het educatieve systeem overstijgt, verschuift in deze tentoonstelling de aandacht van kunstonderwijs naar kunst als aspiratie: een mogelijkheid om de sociale werkelijkheid anders te leren verbeelden en om anders te leren kijken, denken en reageren. Doordat we de academie benaderen als een laboratorium dat ruimte biedt aan nieuwe mogelijkheden, kijken we meteen ook naar kunst als een ruimte waarin ‘andere’ wereld[beeld]en mogelijk worden. Een aantal deelnemende kunstenaars hebben de tentoonstellingsruimtes tot zulke nieuwe leeromgevingen getransformeerd, waar ruimte is voor onderzoek, inzicht en de uitwisseling van ideeën. De speciaal voor deze tentoonstelling gemaakte werken en/of ruimtes stellen ideale omgevingen voor, waarin van kunstwerken en kunstenaars kan worden geleerd. Of waarin we onze vastgeroeste vooronderstellingen over wat nu juist ‘onderwijs’ is, letterlijk weer kunnen af-leren.
