Like his father, he became a painter. He studied at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp (1946-1952) where in 1951 he was awarded the \u0026quot;Club of XII\u0026quot; Prize. He went to the National Higher Institute (1954-1956). In the period 1952-1954 he participated in a Work Academy in Kassel and in 1956 he undertook a study trip to Spain. Daarna volgde het Nationaal Hoger Instituut (1954-1956). In de periode 1952-1954 nam hij deel aan een Werkacademie te Kassel en in 1956 ondernam hij een studiereis naar Spanje.
