In his work he often addresses cosmological realities.\r\n\r\nMol is interested in science, and especially in the power of gravity, which is obvious in his ‘photo sculptures’, named after the spatial sensations they provoke. He regards his photographs as real-life manifestations of spiritual space travel.\r\n\r\nTitles are important in Mol’s universe. Sometimes they are decided before the work they name, as a thought that creates the opportunity to visualise something. Sometimes they are devised to fit already existing works. In both cases, titles are more than a significant detail. Without them, Mol says, the works could not exist.\r\n"},{"locale":"nl","short_description":"","description":"De Nederlandse kunstenaar Pieter Laurens Mol werkte in de jaren 1960 en 1970 als beroepsfotograaf, en thematiseert in zijn beeldend werk bepaalde kosmologische vraagstellingen.\r\n\r\nMol interesseert zich in wetenschap en gefascineerd door de zwaartekracht. Deze interesse geeft hij weer in zijn ‘fotosculpturen’, die hij zo noemt vanwege hun ruimtelijke ervaring. Zijn foto’s ziet Mol als een ruimtevaart van de geest, die zijn weerslag in de werkelijkheid vindt. \r\n\r\nTitels zijn belangrijk in het werk van Mol. Soms zijn ze er eerst, vóór het kunstwerk, als een gedachte die aanleiding geeft om iets te maken. Soms ontstaan ze achteraf. Ze vormen in ieder geval niet zo maar een detail, maar een wezenlijk onderdeel van het werk. Zonder de titel zou volgens de kunstenaar het kunstwerk niet kunnen bestaan."},{"locale":"fr","short_description":"","description":""},{"locale":"ru","short_description":"","description":""},{"locale":"de","short_description":"","description":""},{"locale":"es","short_description":"","description":""},{"locale":"el","short_description":"","description":""}],"locations":[{"country":"Netherlands","place":"Breda","category":{"en":"Born in","nl":"Geboren in","fr":"Né à"}},{"country":"Netherlands","place":"Amsterdam","category":{"en":"Lives in","nl":"Leeft in","fr":"Vit à"}},{"country":"Netherlands","place":"Amsterdam","category":{"en":"Works in","nl":"Werkt in ","fr":"Travaille à"}}]}
