Since his very first collaborative work (1989) he kept the taste for group production and experience (*Building Underwood, Joe Dalton, Potential Estate, YEAR...*). \r\n\r\nHis practice can be seen as a permanent flux of collages, images, sculptures, books, films, etc. working in layers and accumulation. From painting to text, his imaginary is made by huts, old-fashioned objects that he mixes up with glamour, «graphisme brute», primitivism and the cult of the underground magazines. If the work can be enclosed in some formalist conceptualism, it’s never far from literature as a mean to come accross the vernacular culture that is addressed here. One can try one’s luck to say that his art is close to music as a model because of the sense of improvisation and on the other hand, he worked under different group names, in the line of free jazz and punk. \r\n\r\nDavid Evrard is part of the collective project Potential Estate and he is co-editor of YEAR annual book. Vanaf zijn eerste gemeenschappelijke werk (1989) had hij de smaak te pakken van werken en ervaren in groep (*Building Underwood, Joe Dalton, Potential Estate, YEAR...*). \r\n\r\nZijn praktijk kan worden beschouwd als een onophoudelijke stroom van collages, sculpturen, boeken, films enzovoort, waarbij hij werkt met lagen en opeenstapeling. Zijn beeldenwereld, van schilderijen tot teksten, bestaat uit hutten, ouderwetse voorwerpen waar hij glamour onder vermengt, ‘graphisme brute’, primitivisme en de cult van underground tijdschriften. Als het werk al kan worden besloten in enig formalistisch conceptualisme, dan is het nooit veraf van literatuur als een middel om de volkse cultuur te benaderen. Men zou kunnen stellen dat zijn kunst dicht bij muziek staat omwille van de improvisatie en, gezien zijn werk onder verschillende groepsnamen, in de lijn van free jazz en punk. \r\n\r\nDavid Evrard maakt deel uit van het collectieve project Potential Estate en is co-redacteur van het jaarlijkse YEAR-boek.
